Tears and perfume
-A Women’s Evening-
October 16, 20024
Have you ever considered what was pouring out from Mary of Bethany, as she knelt at Jesus’ feet and anointed Him with her tears and costly perfume…
This was an evening designed with women of all ages in mind.
In Luke 7:36-50, we have the honor to read about a woman, whom Jesus himself said would be remembered…and here we were, 2024, and she was and is still relevant and very much relatable. This was an evening where we pressed in with one another and leaned back into the comfort of our King. As women, we all have stories. We’ve walked with sorrow, joy, grief, and everything in between. It’s safe to say that we ALL have stuff that we’re sifting through.
But have you ever considered what was pouring out from Mary of Bethany, as she knelt at Jesus’ feet and anointed Him with her tears and costly perfume? As her tears fell on His feet, as she poured out the fragrance of her alabaster jar, as she dried His feet with her hair…
Here knelt a woman completely undone before her King. What did she know that maybe we have forgotten? What sorrow had she walked with, but in the presence of Jesus, was an afterthought and no longer an option as a robber of her peace and joy? In the presence of harsh words and judging glances, this woman laid her heart bare before all and at that very moment Jesus became her only option.
This evening on October 16, 2024 was an evening filled with the sweet presence and fragrant aroma of our Savior. It was an evening shared between moms, daughters, sisters, and friends——It was a night for ALL of the Father’s beloved daughters. It was a night of sweet encounter, refreshing, and healing from heaven.
